Word art generator

Free Word Art Generator

TextShape turns your words into word art: type what matters — names, dates, lyrics, places — and the generator fills a shape with them, precisely, edge to edge. It runs entirely in your browser, it's free, and there's no sign-up and no watermark.

Unlike AI art tools, TextShape is deterministic: the same words and settings always produce the same result, so you can fine-tune a design instead of re-rolling dice. Your images and text never leave your device.

What can you make with a word art generator?

Anything where the words themselves are the gift: anniversary prints filled with your story, a dog silhouette made of nicknames, a nursery print built from a baby's name and birth date, holiday cards, classroom posters, song lyrics in the shape they belong to. Start from a themed collection:

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick a shape

Choose one of the templates — hearts, pets, holiday shapes, and more — or upload your own image.

  2. 2

    Type your words

Names, dates, lyrics, inside jokes. Star the important ones (*LIKE THIS) to make them bigger.

  3. 3

    Style it

Choose a font, a color palette or gradient, and a layout: readable lines (Flow), a dense word cloud (Packed), or words tracing the edge (Outline).

  4. 4

    Export

Download a high-resolution PNG up to 4K, with or without a background. No watermark, no account.

Why TextShape instead of another generator?

  • Pixel-precise shapes. Words interlock to fill the silhouette edge to edge — including the tight corners.
  • Private by design. Everything happens in your browser; your images and words are never uploaded.
  • Actually free. No account, no watermark, no export limits — up to 4K PNG.
  • Reproducible. Shuffle layouts and keep the one you like; the same settings always come back to the same design.

Want a frequency-sized cloud rather than hand-picked words? That side of the tool lives at the word cloud generator.

Word art questions, answered

What is the difference between word art and a word cloud?

A word cloud scatters words by frequency, usually in a loose blob — the shape is a side effect. Word art makes the shape the point: your words are placed to fill a chosen silhouette, like a heart or a dog, edge to edge. TextShape does all three styles: a readable line-by-line Flow layout, a Packed word-cloud layout constrained precisely to the shape, and an Outline mode that runs the words around the silhouette edge.

Can I make word art in a custom shape?

Yes. Besides the built-in templates, you can upload any image — a logo, a letter, a silhouette of your pet — and TextShape detects its shape from the image and fills it with your words. Images with a transparent or plain background work best.

How do I make certain words stand out in my word art?

Mark a word as featured by typing an asterisk in front of it (like *LOVE) in Packed mode, and it renders larger than the rest. You can also assign individual words their own color and size in the Special Words panel, or apply a color palette so words alternate through a matching set of colors.

What can I do with the finished word art?

Download it as a PNG up to 4K — with a transparent background if you like — and use it however you want, including commercially. People print word art as posters and framed gifts, put it on cards and invitations, and post it straight to social media.
